THE LOVE STORY OF BARIDIN

Nawangsih            :  (crying, mourning of his life fate)
Baridin … Baridin… Why your life is so tragic like this??? Why don’t you listen to your Mom’s advice?
* On the sidewalk near Baridin’s house.
Uncle Kasim         :  Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.
Din, I didn’t see you around the rice field recently. Where have you been?
Nawangsih            :  He’s waiting Bocel to graduate from his school, then he’ll get married.
Baridin                  :  How could you, Mom? You wanna make your son marry to a buffalo? Don’t you take a pity if your grandchild is a buffalo?
Uncle Kasim         :  Or you who wanted to, but Bocel didn’t?
Baridin                  :  Nonsense, Uncle Kasim.
Nawangsih            :  Stop it, leave now. Or you’ll be late.
Uncle Kasim         :  This is the down payment.
Baridin                  :  Uncle Kasim … you go first, I’ll catch you up, later. I wanna feed the chicken first.
Uncle Kasim         :  OK, I’ll wait in the field, don’t take too long.
Baridin                  :  OK.
Uncle Kasim         :  Up to you … Assalamu’alaikum (fide out)
Baridin                  :  Mom … I wanna feed the chicken first before I go (while kissing her Mom’s hand)
                                 Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb. (Fide out)
Nawangsih            :  Be careful … Wassalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

* On the way.
Ratminah               :  (Fide in) (Confused on the way)
Oh gosh … what should I buy? Onion, chilli, cigarette, shaver, and then what? … shoe polish, socks…?
Halimah                 :  Make a note then, so you won’t forget.
(they meet Baridin on the way)
Baridin                  :  Wow … so beautiful …
Girl, may I ask you something? Do you know where Uncle Kasim’s rice field is?
Ratminah               :  I don’t know. Who is Uncle Kasim?
Baridin                  :  Don’t you know him?
Ratminah               :  We’ve told you, but you don’t believe.
Baridin                  :  Hey … beautiful but that pierce?
(Ratminah and her friend leave Baridin)
Baridin                  :  Man, may I ask? Who is the girl?
Passerby                :  Ooh … her? She is Ratminah.
Baridin                  :  Ratminah, the daughter of Mr. Takmad, the wealthy person?
Passerby                :  Yeah, right. (walk away)
Baridin                  :  Seems like I felt in love at the first sight. Oh … Ratminah! I love you.
                                 (walk away smiling)
